arrested
alright, heres my 2 cents worth, do the crime do the time, regadless if there are whitnesses or not, vidieo footage or not, you admit you did in fact pull a wheelie in front of a cop, you are busted!! stop doing things that get you noticed by johnnie law, if you want to play be prepared to pay. not sure how old you are [iam sure you are sick of this one], but with time and experience comes a little wisdom iam 43 years old not the old timer but, old enuogh to have a little time under my belt, there is truth to the saying "young and dumb" ride alittle safer and alittle smarter it goes a long way. hope i did not **** in your "cherios" and make you upset that i dont agree with you that this cop is a "bad cop", out to get you personally. some do have a chip on their shoulders and some adittude, alot of them are just doing their jobs [ like busting law breakers] step up if you did somthing wrong it builds character , chicks dig character. okay all done.
I can't freaking believe some of the **** you guys are saying here....."**** the Police"??? Are you serious? You get caught doing something wrong, regardless how long it takes to catch up to you, and you simply replied "**** the Police"? Dude, you need to do some growing up.
If the cop lies on the stand remind him of perjury? Again, are you kidding me? How stupid do you think people are? Of course he understands the law he is a cop there is no reason to "remind" him. Sure there are some unfavorable police out there but 98% of other Law Enforcement have compassion about their job and do it honestly.
It is the attitude of some of the folks who have posted here which gives the "sport bike community" the name it has. As far as any of you know this could be part of the story. So far several people have asked this guy what the other tickets were and he has yet to reply. I am not saying he is dodging the question but come on find out the entire facts before you pass judgment on anyone.
The warrant theory is a very good one, it sounds like this could have happened before since you knew the cop was there and you did this act anyway. Might have some pending citations you haven't taken care of therefore, they turned warrant.
Then comes the part of being arrest at a later date. Most of you are right about being arrested days later on a misdemeanor violation. Most laws read you must effect the arrest during the on going investigation that day or work shift. A week later does not count. So there again the warrant theory even sounds better. As far as identity who is to say in the past the officer has seen this bike before, seen the rider remove is helmet or has given him a ticket in the past and knows who he is. In this case who cares if he had his helmet on during the violation the officer knows who he is from previous experience and that my friend will hold up in court.
Do us all a favor and list the charges on your arrest tag you were taken to jail on. In fact, did you even get booked in to the jail or were you simply arrested and then cited and released? If you go to court and fight it, this could come and bite you in the ***.
Oh and by the way, yes you CAN be arrested for doing a wheelie. If articulated this is grounds for wreck less driving which is an arrestable offense.

Personally, I would DEFINATELY get a lawyer. I got arrested in Atlanta for doing 130 through downtown on the interstate and the GSP caught me after about 15 miles. I wasn't running from him, I just didn't see him. He wrote me three tickets.
Wreckless Driving
103mph in a 55mph (he dropped it a bit)
and
Improper lane change.
Honestly, I don't know how he wrote me for improper lane change but it really doesn't matter.
The point is I got a lawyer and after about 6 months of going to court I got off with only the speeding ticket.
The court dropped the wreckless driving and the improper lane change.
The lawyer was $1000 and the fines were about $450. $1400-$1500 is MUCH MUCH cheaper than just paying the fines and the resulting insurance hikes.

I'd put hard cash on that's exactly what happened to you in Atlanta. Folks get ticked off by agressive riding / driving. They call it in these days trust me on this one. Between that and the traffic cameras all over the place with folks monitoring them, we're definitely under serveillance.
That's why I say....the road is no place to race. TAKE IT TO THE TRACK!!!
We all have gotten "the need for speed" on the road. I still do at 47 yrs of age. However, I try to regularly schedule me some "track time" to take care of that. Plus, I do alot of simulator racing on XBox, Computer, etc. Helps meet the need.
It's a choice we're all given to make. I want to be a great driver / rider & show by example I'm responsible on the road, yet a force to be reckoned with on track.
Even Kurt Busch got this all wrong last year in Phoenix. He's paying for it too.
Take it to the track! The track makes you a better road rider & actually slows you down on the killer highways.

Go to the dean of students(assuming you are in college) tell him that you would rather take care of it through the school. This way you stay out of the court system. I go to school in small college town and lived in a frat, tons of guys there have ****ed up on campus(streaking, beer bonging in the administration lawn, panty raids.....) the dean has a ton of pull in the town and you can probably do a little community service for the school. No record! Let us know how it works out. Good luck. Oh yeah cops around here especially in the small town are worthless, got pulled over last week saying I failed to come to a complete stop at 2:30am out of Jack in the Box. Four cop cars! issued a field sobriety test and passed, took forever. Bull****!

Good luck with all of this and next time you do something stupid, ask yourself 'Will it make me money or get me laid?' If the answer is 'no' to both, DON'T DO IT!!

Alright, Im only posting about this getting arrested thing.
In Illinois, you can get arrested for doing a wheelie. I was arrested for doing a highway wheelie that the cop didnt even see. A person that was trying to keep up with my copied my plate number and called the cops with a cell phone, telling them that I was heading to town. Just as soon as I got in town, I was arrested. The funny thing is, the cop had no way of hauling the bike so he let me ride it to the doughnut shop-whoops- cop shop. But I also had no legal tag nor did I have insurance on the bike. They tried saying that they could get the wheelie ticket on my and I argued with the cop telling him that i had 3 other people that would say I wasnt doing a wheelie and that the cop knew that it wouldnt hold up in court with that many alibi's. Anyways they ended up dropping everything but the insurance ticket because that gave me the biggest fine.
Anyways, you can get arrested for doing a wheelie. In my case, it was a 70 mph wheelie that stretched quite a ways.
