the plastic above my mirror started to get what appeared to be pressure cracks. I didn't think much of it but today I noticed it was starting to actually crack in the plastic. After riding today the piece completely broke off. Has this happened to anyone else? Does anybody know why this would happen? Now i need a new upper fairing.

Looks like a clean break and all the pieces are there. You can repair it rather than buy a new upper.

Question is have you removed it or the mirrors before? Looks like someone over tightened things.

 

Mine was like that. I used Permatex epoxy for ABS. Cost me 5 bucks, and I had enough to fix a couple cracks on my tail and a plastic part on my van. If you decide to buy a new one, I got dibs on this one.lol If you want detailed instructions on how to make the repair, and make it last, pm me. Mines been holding up for a second season now, as opposed to the fiberglass repair I tried that only lasted a half a season before the crack started to come back.

 

Yeah id have no idea where to begin on that repair. How does it look after its repaired? And I did replace my mirrors? do you think that could be my problem?

 

I happens when people use their mirrors to hang their helmets. You may not have done that, but maybe someone else did who had the bike before you.
