Default 600 Runs WAY to Rich, HELP

I have a 2003 600 F4i. Right now it has a Hindel Full Exhaust System and a Power Commander. As of now my mechanic has given up trying to fix my bike and get it to run at Stoichiometric mix in the low power band.

We have replaced the Fuel Pressure Reg., the WAX Unit, and the have cleaned the injectors, the air box and changed the MAP sensor. We have programmed new maps into the Power commander, and have also changed the computer. We have re sinked the throttle bodies and cleaned the entire system. Yet it still runs VERY VERY rich in low RPM's and wants to foul the spark plugs.

Any ideas would be greatly appreciated.

Sounds like you have done all the easy and hard fixes already. Have you taken off the power commander and tried to fix itwithout something piggybacking on all that fine Honda Engineering?

Where do you shift your bike when riding normally? You should be running the bike at over 4500 RPM. If you putz around under that you will foul the plugs with the PC. Don't shift your bike until after 5000RPM.

The PC runs rich down low to remove some of the jerkyness of fuel injection and give a more carburated feel. Furthermore you need a proper map setup. DO NOT DOWNLOAD THE INTERNET MAPS. In order to have the unit work properly it needs to be setup on a proper eddybrake dyno. You did remember to do your valve lash adjustment before install right (you have to do that)?

Thank you. I appreciate the feed back. As far a I can tell, we have removed the PC and it is running a bit better however, still not 100%.

I will be keeping the PC off and selling it. Does this fuel problem happen much to the F4i?

Typically bikes run on the lean side with low revs, people also suggest that a slip on makes it a little worse. My gas mileage from a bone stock F4i is between 45 and 48 mpg driven fairly easy but usually in town. This mileage has been constant for the last 8600 miles. Wait a few tankfuls and see where you are.

Don't sell the PC until you really track down the problem. After you get squared away you may want to use it. I think they are junk, but a lot of smart people on this forum like them, so they HAVE to serve a purpose.

Keep us posted.
