yeah FPR was my next guess... you will know if you have a power commander if you see one of these in the trunk...

 

Ya it definatly does not have the power commander. As to the last post, I just bought the bike. Far as i know oil has been changed after evry winter and had regular tune ups. I started it today, started right up, and smoke was visable coming out of the exhaust. After riding for 5 min no smoke at all. However the FULL power is not there at lower rpms. It doesnt seem like anything major, just drinking lots of gas and not full of power. Is this really a FPR (fuel pressure regulator)

Are you cruising around in 3rd or 4th gear everywhere? I know dumb q but I know a guy who does that [on a gixxer of course]

 

No question is dumb. No i'm not. I usually switch gears around 4-6 rpm's.

 

What does it mean when you guys say if you smell gas that means its running rich?? Rich? What? Is that good or bad first off? Explanation please?

means its just dumping to much fuel,, like the fuel air ratio is alil bit off, more so to the fuel. could be the cause of your low mpg

 

Rich is BAD!! Rich meaning your engine is getting too much gasoline to burn. your engine is getting dumped with fuel which explains the low gas mileage. you will foul out your spark plugs and may end up with gas in your oil - not good. By the way, sense I first posted this I never mentioned smelling gas, I took the bike out yesterday and did smell gas around me. Hint its running too rich. I hope to get the fuel pressure regulator today and will put that in this weekend, at latest Monday afternoon its going in. Cant wait i just bought the bike 2 weeks ago and want to see around 40 mpg!!

 

yeah, that rocks, I'm averaging 40-44 on my F3, and and that's not riding conservatively (Dont ask why I'm on this thread, I explore, lol)
