Default horrible gas mileage!

I have a 2001 f4i with a micron high mount and k&n air filter. i bought it used from the original owner with these mods already on it. the bike has 7000 miles. since i got it i have ridden through about 4 tanks of 93 octane. my exhaust reeks of gas and today my reserve came on after 65 miles of conservative riding. i took out plug #4 the other day (was unsure how to go about getting the rest out) and it looked perfect. no idea the condition of the other 3 but the plug change interval isnt supposed to be untill 12000 miles anyways. air filter is also clean. can anyone point me in the right direction? i bought the bike to save some gas!

The only problems we ever had with F4i's at my honda dealership was always fuel pressure regulator related.

I can get about 160 on my 02 and I don't ride very conservative. But I do a lot of highway riding to and from work!

dang forum troubles I cant post
Even at the track I get 110mpt highway it goes up to 155mpt.
It's obviously not burning clean. your fuel filter/air filter might be clogged (unlikely at low miles) or the fpr might

be bad. To check the fpr, locate the 'fuel pressure regulator' in the service manual at stephygee.com.

side note, no need for 93 octane. Its your pref, but the engine's designed to run at 87. If you're saving gas money this might be a consideration!

for checking fpr, open vacuum line and see if fuel leaks out of the port.
