I just bought a 2001 600 F4i. It has 6000 miles on it now. The bike is only getting about 25 miles to the gallon.... ANy ideas on whats going on?? I run premium gas in it, I just checked the air filter it looked brand new.

What 25mpg are you seeing any smoke comin out the pipe or smelling alot of gas

 

Yes I notice some very light smoke/exhaust when i first start the bike to warm up. After that I see nothing. I have never smelt anything but my g/f riding behine me the other say passed me saying it smelt bad.

 

does it have a power commander? if so, re-map it. no need for premium gas. 87 or 89 will work fine.

 

I have no idea, I am new to street motorcycles. As far as I know the bike is totally stock. I just rode my friends gxsr 600 yesterday and was shocked how smoothly everything ran on the bike. Mine just doesnt have the smoothness and same power. could it be running to rich? I hope its an easy fix. I thought of calling my honda dealer but im sure they will say just bring it in

 

Thought I would add this about my motorcycle too. When I first pull it out to start it starts perfectly fine. However, after riding for a while say I stop, shut it off come back in 10min or so it seems as I have to give it gas to start it. Hope that helps a little more

 

Ok, well I had a problem with my o1 when i had it and sometimes it wouldnt want to turn over an always had smoke when it did at the begining and what happened was something ate through a fuel line that ran between cylinders and kept filling 1 cylinder more then the others exspecially on start up which is why it wouldnt start. now as far as mileage mine was worse but not that bad so maybe that will help you some

 

fuel pressure regulator. 70 bucks at a honda dealer and 30min of ur time. pull the vacuum line off the fpr and see if fuel leaks out to check it

 

Ive been reading other posts and lots of people with similar problems all seem to think its the fuel pressure regulator too. So if its bad, will gasoline come out of it when I put it your saying or do i have to turn the bike on and see it its coming out?

 

Are you calculating it right? What's the maintenance schedule been like? On time? When was the last oil change?
