Default 520 conversion ?

Quick question here. I just bought an F4i that came with a few rear sprockets. I checked the front sprocket and its stock 16th, rear sprocket is also stock 46th. I was looking at the chain and it says 520 xso. If I throw a 48 (+2) on the back and a 15 (-1)on the front, I should be able to use the chain that's on the bike right?

im not sure i understand what your asking. the teeth on your sprocket has nothing to do with the width of the chain. if you have a 520 chain then you need to get sprockets for a 520 chain. you can go + or - as much as you want, just get the right sprockets for the right chain.

I guess to better explain my question, I have the 15th for the front I have the 48th for the rear and I have a 520 chain. On the bike right now I have a 16th on the front and a 46th on the back with a 520 chain on it. Can I put the 15th on the front, the 48th on the rear and use the 520 chain thats on the bike right now? I do know that the 15th is for 520, but it's the 48th that's in question, I checked vortexs' site and tried to look up the part number but I'm not finding anything that states It's for a 520 chain. The part number is 251A-48. Can someone help me?

i am new as well, but from some minor reading, it helps your gearing when you drop down a tooth in the front. shorting gearing = quicker acceleration. but im sure it also throws off your speedo. it did on my buddys 02 ZX6R
