2006 Mileage - WTF?
Hello,
I have an 06 F4i and my mileage has gone to crap!
Here’s what the 5 tank averages look like: 37.2, 37.4, 37.9, 36.3, 32.6
32.6! Is there something wrong? It got cold here (I’m in Maryland), but come on.
The bike has ~3800 miles on it. I changed the oil using a Honda filter and the Honda (dino) oil at 589 and 2571. I’ve cleaned and lubed the chain every 500.
Any thoughts?
Oh, one more thing, when I started it up this AM (it was about 40 out) I noticed some small oil spots on my silver 03 Cobra where the exhaust was pointing at the car. What’s up with that? I checked the exhaust after I got home today, and it was fine (but it was warm by then)

RE: 2006 Mileage - WTF?
also you need to consider how often and how youve been riding it...i know now that its colder(here in CT) ive been riding it less...but wen it is nice enough to, i get out and push it harder than usual...where as in the summer when im commuting or just cruising around, the miles i put on it on average are not as all out...so most of the mileage on the bike now is revving it high and fast, which will bring the mpg down
also, since it is cold, im riding it for shorter periods of time, and riding the surface streets more, which means im starting and stopping, and im putting less miles on everytime i start the bike and it fast idles to warm up
so those 2 things can add to your decreased mpg

OK, I guess I'll worry less...
There are several (40 mile) commute trips in those low mpg tankfulls. It's just anoying to have to keep filling it up every 140.
Maybe I should just leave it insideuntil it gets warm...
