well its easy to check shim under bucket, just need feeler gauges. and incase you didnt know you are going to hear your valves tick when the bike is cold and no oil is on the cams, you should hear it for about 10 seconds.
people must be on vacation cause they usually are full of ideas. give it time.

Ok after reading the manual and doing some research I think a valve adjustment is within my range of ability. After messing with the fuel pump and trying to get it to seal I broke ANOTHER stud (****!). So at this moment I'm contemplating a fix. Only thing I've come up with is to drill the old ones out and put a nut underneath that lip (see video). Take a bolt and cut the head off and thread it into that nut until it hits the tank and use threadlocker or epoxy to hold it from moving.

Think my fix worked! Ended up drilling the old studs out and fitting a nut underneath there and threading new studs in. Just have to trim them to fit and weld/jb weld the nuts and waiting for the new gasket to arrive!

sweet, now go and buy a nice torque wrench and download the manual for torque specs, because you will snap the valve cover bolts unless you put 14 NM or whatever it calls for.
