Default 02 F4I COOLING help

Hello I am new here. My Q's is there a way to start my cooling fan before 220 degrees? 220 to 222 is when my fan comes on. It doesn't boil over. WhenI am sitting in rush hour traffic temp goes up that high. Once traffic flow starts to move it cools it self back down. Maybe I am just a wimp but don't want to cook baby?

I would like ti kick on about 200.

Thanks for the help.
jc

jimmy, your bike is fine. that is the way it's designed to work.
only worry if it doesn't go back down after the fan kicks on or your hitting over 235 consistently and the fan doesn't bring it back down.

if you want it to come on sooner then you'll need to change the temp switch/sending unit on the clutch lever side of the radiator to a different one. alternatively, you can also wire it with a swtich to come on whenever you want.

Yeah, sounds like your bike is running as designed. Mine is exactly the same way. As long as the temp comes down, you shouldn't be worried.

JC:

Everyone else is right nothing wrong with your bike, it's just the way it was designed to work! If you want it to run cooler you can remove the side fairings. But you will get a lot of heat on your legs or you can switch your coolant out to something like Wetter Water or Hyper-Lube Super Coolant. I have switched out to Hype-Lube Super Coolant + Straight water mix 50/50 and the bike run about 18 to 20 degrees cooler..It's great for city or summer riding. Electric fan hardly ever comes on. Check it out at http://www.hyperlube.com/prod_cool.aspand see what you think! Also look at the temprature test comparison http://www.hyperlube.com/docs/Temper...ion%20Test.pdf

Hope this helps!

Gary

If you use water wetter or hyper lube dont use regular water, use distilled water. Regular water corrodes your cooling system.

Sorry, I meant to say use distilled water, instead of just water - Thanks!
