I took my front cowl off this morning and my fuel pump wouldn't prime till I plugged it back in.

From what ive read and been told the headlight harness needs to be plugged in or the fuel pump wont prime sooo yes you need the headlights. Im sure you can do a search here or over on the stuntlife.com forum and you could find a way to bypass this if you really dont want them.

When I blew my diode my pink wire wasnt getting any power. Im not sure what the blue wire is for but I think that should still be getting 12v regardless of the diode. I dont know what to say as far as the speedo reading 14mph is concerned. If theyre all being caused by the same thing then theres another problem instead of or in addition to the diode. Check over all the wires, grounds, etc, simple stuff like that but otherwise im not sure how to fix that problem, i havent heard of anyone else with that problem and i cant find any other threads about it. Sorry man, good luck though, keep us posted.

$45 for a new ignition from a dealer? i paid $100 for a used one on ebay....damn. Did you talk to them about the problem? that might be your best bet. I tried doing a few searches and couldnt find anyone with a similar problem with the speedo and couldnt find any helpful info.
