Default stolen bikes

Hi i was wondering if anyone has had their bike stolen before and if there are any common faults with a bike after it's been hotwired? mine was stolen and recovered and having fitted a new ignition barrel, I've found the bike no longer holds charge. the battery is fine so i need to test rectifier and alternator but the bike's developed other problems since it was nicked so i was wondering if there were any common things to look out for? thanks in advance

Probably shorted some wires leading to the ignition barrel or connected some wire to something they shouldn't have. Electrical issues cause weak spark or charging and the electronics need proper voltage or they won't function. Example: I took the battery terminal off looking for a battery fault and the bike wouldn't rev at all. The honda needs the battery in the circuit to run properly. Old cars could run without a battery on the old points system ignition.

Download or buy a manual for the electrical diagrams and testing procedures. It'll help you out.
