Default Reserve fuel tank not working?

Hello.
New cbr 600f2 rider here.
So I don't have low fuel light working on my CBR atm. Anyways, was riding, I knew I was fairly low on fuel but CLEARLY there still was fuel on the tank.
Bike stalled and I switched on reserve. (And yes, I googled which way reserve is for Petcock/Fuel Valve. Apparently it's arrow UP where it says reserve ) However, this did nothing. Bike wouldn't start.

Had my friend bring me 5 Liters of fuel, added that and bike would start up and run just fine.

Question: To my understanding, there is no separate reserve tank on CBR, but instead two pipes to fuel tank, the lower being the "reserve". Is this right?
And if this is the case, reason for bike not starting on reserve might be the reserve pipe being blocked.

I can't think of any other reason: bike clearly had fuel on the tank -> couldn't start -> add 5l fuel on tank -> starts just fine. If anyone has any other ideas, please share

EDIT: I'm new here so not sure if this topic should have been in the "main forum" or here in "sub-forum".

Correct - two holes, one with a pipe on it so it's higher up. Either the pipe is blocked or the petcock isn't working.

Lucky for you - they seem to be widely available still -
