Default Rear brake pad pin

Hey all,
I'm having some trouble replacing my rear brake pads. I unscrewed the stopper but can't loosen the pin that the pads attach to. It won't come loose. Any suggestions would be appreciated.

Thanks!

Did you leave the caliper mounted on the bike? It should make it easier to brake things loose. Once there loose, then remove caliper and fininsh taking out the pins. I put antiseize on mine when reinstalling them to make the next time easier. But not the stop plugs that go on top of the pins. Get a torque wrench and bike manual and torque all your bolts to spec. You know how guys are, we like to tighten stuff way to much.

It was off the bike because I had to change the rear tire and sprocket. I'm going to put it back on and remove it the way you suggested. Ive got the manual so I'll be sure to torque them down to spec. Thanks a lot!

Might try to soak it with a break-free, lubricant and then let it soak for a bit before
your next try.

If it keeps being stubborn, you can try a little heat (preferably, from an electric hot-air
blower).

If you have an impact-driver, that can help too. Got to watch out, that you don't strip
the allen-head, though. I did that once, had to use a pair of vice-grips on the center
of the hanger-pin. Then I had to chuck it in the drill-press and turn out the gouges
with a file. Don't pull an Ern, if at all possible, lol.

Good luck, Ern
