R/R Plug issue.

I went with a GSXR R/R. They're FAR beefier and have vastly incrseased surface area on their cooling fins. Here's a picture:




OEM is above the GSXR one to the top left. The difference is painfully obvious. The GSXR unit is superior.



EDIT: The connectors there are most definitely not the best example of my work, nor even an advised method. It worked in a pinch though

I'm still of the opinion that that's a good bit of your problem. You can try un-mounting
it again, see if the bike fires up and runs, then take a hvy-guage wire and connect the
body of the r/r to the frame. if it pops a fuse and the bike dies, there's an internal
short in the r/r and it's bad.

So unplug the R/R then try to ground it? Or am I missing something? That doesn't seem like it would do anything, there would be no power going to it if it is only grounded

Also, I just bought this one on ebay:



Out of a 04 GSXR600.

Don't listen to that ****.

Go read the sticky on electrical troubleshooting. it tells oyu EXACTLY how to troubleshoot an R/R. A short will be painfully obvious, and a bad part of the R/R will also be painfully obvious.

Don't forget to check your stator connections for short to ground.
