Default problems

Hit a quick question... When I turn my bike on with choke it runs fine, but when I turn the choke off the bike cuts off, someone said the carburetor needs to be cleaned, someone else said the idle needs to be adjusted? Any advice would be greatly appreciated...thanks

Yuppers to above. Before you pull the carbs, try running a can of Sea-foam thru a
tank of gas. I'm assuming that if you get it warmed up, you are able to ride it.

As 5p00f3r says, after you get it warmed up, try adjusting the idle. If it's like the F3,
there's a **** on the end of a cable. It's below the pet-****, under the left side cover.

If I remember correctly, CW to advance the speed, CCW to lower the speed.

Try those first, see where that gets you. Then check-back if you need some further
tips.

Hope this helps, Ern

Would the idle adjuster be on the outside of the cover but the fuel reserve switch?I have a little notch there connected to to a cable...don't know what its for?

Might be, is it supported by a wire loop on off the frame? I've got a slightly different
bike, so I can't say for sure. If it's just atightly looped coil with a **** on the end,
that's probably it. Try turning the **** after the bike's warmed up and see if the
engine speed changes.
