Default More Questions regarding modifications???

I'm looking to do the sssa conversion on my 93 f2, heres the deal my neighbors has two of the vfr swing arms with the mount on the bottom. It seems when we where mocking it up i cant use the stock dog bone. I will be replacing the rear shock anyway with the f4i shock just wanna know which dog bone i should purchase for this? Also i need a speedometer! ive been running with out one and i had to do something illegal to avoid a ticket how does the trail tech vapor hook up to our speedo cable? i havent found any information regarding this in my searches? I've done the f4i conversion and i wanted to know what kind of frame sliders to buy? it seems as if i need a slightler longer frame slider since my fairings arent flush with the bike. Any ideas ? i need to start making a list so i can get this stuff next month. Thanks a ton guys

I can't really answer the linkage issue - I think you're going to need to just do some mockups. I haven't seen any F2 to SSSA threads - but if there are some, they'd be the only sources of info I could come up with. You're making basically a custom one-off setup - be prepared to fabricate your own parts for it.

Running without a functional speedo shouldn't be illegal, I doubt it is required in most states. Check with a local state inspection center if they are required to check for an operating speedometer. How would a cop know it wasn't working without hopping on your bike and test riding it (which you should never allow).
now - if you're saying lack of speedo is causing you to exceed the speed limit and get yourself into trouble - get a cheap GPS system and fab up a mount ofr it - then you get a speedo and a GPS.

F2's are cable driven speedos - they aren't electronic - I doubt there is an interface to any form of electronic setup. I think the vapors come with their own sensors and sending units.

Check ebay - there are sellers there that sell regular and extended sliders.

I have alot of people telling me to just use the gps, i think its kinda of tacky. i want the f4i gauges but the cost involved is a little high. Although i did read that i could use a hall effect sensor but i havent found much information on making my own speedohealer or a write up on how to do the swap in a cost effect manner. thanks for the in depth response very helpful and when i do the swap ill make sure to take pictures of everything and post it on a build htread along with my conversion. so do you know how the vapors sending unit connects? and what would i do to get rid of the stock speedo cable since that acts as a spacer for our wheels? or would i have to just buy an f3 wheel? lots of questions. lol but the thing is i know other people on the forum have done all the things i want to do. including the turbo

The Vapor uses a hall-effect sensor mounted on the brake caliper area, with a magnet attached to the rotor. you dial in a setting for your tire circumference, and it then knows how far you travel for each time the magnet passes the sensor. It uses a wire wrapped around a coil wire for the RPM gauge, and a sensor wrapped around one of the radiator hoses to give you a coolant temp reading. Instructions are here: http://www.trailtech.net/media/instr...structions.pdf

To get rid of the stock speedo cable, I would just disconnect it from the front hub - it just pulls out of the socket - no need to remove the mechanism itself from the axle.
