Yeah I meant to ask that as well - we talked about this before, you kept mentioning here and elsewhere that the plug to your RR was melted - we've seen the pics.

I can't say this any plainer - if that plug was melted, it was not the plug's fault. Something else caused it. Plugs simply don't completely melt like that without a cause. Simply replacing the plug is not going to solve the reason that the plug melted.

This is the screwed up theory I've seen used over the years where someone will blow a fuse somewhere, and keep replacing the blown fuse with bigger and bigger value fuses until either it doesn't blow, or something catches fire.

My guess is that your RR is fried - although it also sounds like you're not getting fuel through the carbs if the motor sounded like it was trying to light up off of spraying carb cleaner down the velocity stacks.

Mine had the same problem, my r/r plug brunt out just changed plug.. and still acting weird. I took off the pulse generator cover and noticed my cam cain guide was split in two and chain was off timing marks. I replaced chain and both guides timed it up started ran like new that was my luck. Take at look yours, remove pulse gen, and valve cover see if all youre marks are lining up if you need a manual i have an adobe f2 manual i can send you.

Honestly, I haven't ever done much research on it, cause the charging system on my bike is working fine - knock on wood. If I start having trouble, then I'll take the time to research it.

The RR could be causing a weak spark situation if it isn't sending enough juice out into the system while the bike is running normally, but typically the starting on a bike isn't done off the stator, it runs solely off the battery until the RR sees stable voltage being generated by the charging system.

Good deal -at least you know the ICM coils/plugs are working. The bike died cause the starting fluid burned off, and your carbs apparently aren't passing fuel, or enough fuel, into the cylinders. Sounds again to check for vacuum leaks, diaphrams that aren't intact or have hardened up and aren't pumping fuel anymore, etc...

Don't lose hope - you're getting closer.

theres a f3 petcock on my bike.....so theres no room for a vacuum hose. i capped off my carb ports. but not the gold vacuum hose line on the side of carb 1. every time i put it on and try and start up,it shoots off. might have to buy a smaller cap.

Check your carb boots and clamps too for loose play. All the clamps were missing on mine it was serging bad rough idle.
