i just replaced my chain and sprocket (2000929rr) and i noticed the front sprocket was loose on the output shaft.(with the bolt still tight) Is that norm? The new sprocket went on the same way loose. So i figured it just supposed to be that way. Any info on this would be much appreciated. bye the way i wish i saw this thread before i bought the 130 dollar tool. i love old school

Great Guide!

I was told that you need to reapply grease to the rear axel when you put it back on.

Great how-to guide Viking. With this instruction, I was able to get a new chain & sprockets on my F2 with no specialized tools in about 2 hours.

Nice to see my guide has been made sticky.
I moved this summer and as winter is upon my bike is at storage, so i haven't really been active in the forums lately.

The sprockets and chain were purchased at a authorized Honda dealer. They are all DID as the dealer said Honda used that for all their bikes. Stock size/teeth on both chain and sprockets.

@deadfred - good idea. I always use a dab of grease on the shaft as well.

@ritter - front sprocket will go on fairly loosely as it is not a pressure fit. Just slide it onto shaft loosely. Once fixed with the outer washer and bolt it should stay firmly in place on the shaft.
