Gears get stuck while downshifting.

As the title stated, I have an old `91 600f2 which have seen quite much road, 97tkm (around 60270 miles) to be exact. The problem is that when I downshift for example to stop at lights, I have to kick the lever down with some moderate force, otherwise it gets stuck between gears and have to be lifted back up to the last gear before it agrees to go further down. Also changing to the lowest gears at approx the right speed with clutch pressed it causes the bike to jerk a bit as if the clutch doesn`t disengage fully, what it does. The main questions would be: Is this a fault or a feature in this type (mv9) engine, or is it a result of a) that the bike needs new oils or b)natural wear caused by the high mileage?
