Default F2 Gets stuck in-between gears sometimes.

Lately it's acting a little odd. Few minor issues I'm having and not all the time. Downshift to neutral and won't go into gear unless I let the clutch out then back in.
First to second shift sometimes goes first to neutral. I'll hit it back into 2nd and it will grind.

Downshifting at to first and it won't go below 2nd or 3rd, so I let out the clutch, then squeeze it again and it will then go into the lower gears. This happened only once or twice.
And shifting sometimes it will only go halfway into gear and I have to clutch and hit the lever again.

Where do I start troubleshooting this issue?

I'm wondering if your clutch cable might be too loose and not fully disengaging when you pull it in. How much slack do you have in your clutch cable. You should only have 10-20mm of free play measured at the end of the clutch lever.

Sorry I'm new to to wrenching on bikes, where and how do I adjust this? I adjusted the cable at the clutch lever itself because it had a lot of slop to it and now it grabs farther out.

How long has it been since you changed the oil? What sort of oil did you use?

It can be adjusted either up at the clutch lever or down at the other end on the engine. No matter where you do the adjustment, the end result should be that there is the above mentioned free play in the clutch lever. What this means is if you take 1 finger and start to push on the round **** at the end of the clutch lever, it should only move 10-20mm before you feel any resistance. If it's moving more than that, it could be contributing to your shifting problems.

Last owner did it or so I was told. I guess it wouldn't hurt to do another change. What is the recommended oil type and amount? I didn't get the owners manual with the bike.

I'll check it out, thanks

I am gonna assume it just needs new oil. It sounds like your clutch is adjusted and working as it should. Get yourself a gallon jug of Shell Rotella full synthetic from WalMart and grab a Purolator Pure One filter PL14610.

It only comes in one weight. It is a commercial grade diesel oil. Purple bottle with silvber label. 10w40 I think but don't quote me.

Does sound like a few separate issues,

1st would be clutch adjustment making it hard to slect a gear.

2nd would be your "shift fork"(search),causing it to jump out of second into neutral

3rd issue im not sure about, mine does the same thing, misses a gear causing it to grind and crunch.
Hopefully another member knows what is causing this.
