Default F3 Fuel Petcock Vavle On F2 Bike

Hi
I just purchased a 94 CBR600 F2 with fuel petcock leaking, n want to know if a F3 fuel petcock would bolt on and work without any modification. Thanks for any tips.

Don't know about it, but I do know that you can rebuild a petcock with relative ease. I'll be doing a rebuild on a friends here in the next two weeks or so. I'll try and post up pictures.

I don't think it's a straight-up bolt-on. If I'm correct the F2 uses a vacume shut-off.

The F3 has a fuel-pump and doesn't use one. It would be easy to run the vac line off the carbs, but there might be issues with fuel flow.

I would either, do the re-build (as suggested) or stick with the F2 petcock for
replacement.

Well yes and no. It will bolt on and it will work because vacuum is only for shut off, but you will need to plug the vacuum port on the carb. Does that count as a modification?

No problems unless you have a leaking float needle valve and seat, it's still good practice to manually shut off the fuel anyway.

edit: Btw Im not trying to convince anyone to use an f3 petcock, I run the f2 one, but just answering the question.

I run and F3 petcock in an F2. Plug the vaccum line and you will be fine. If your needle valves dont leak you can leave it on the on position all the time. I usually do. Turn it off if you are paranoid about it. And if you are going to leave it on just be observant of gas smell before you start
