Default Exhaust / Tuning

I have been doing some yoying with my F2. I pulled the plugs and read them, with the slip-on (V&H SS2R?)installed the bike runs pig rich. I got to thinking and came up with an idea, what if the bike had been tuned to run strait piped, then had a can installed for in-town toodling. So I went and made 5 back to back passes checking the plugs with different configurations.

All passes were with K&N air filter installed and properly cleaned and oiled. 2 passes with Slip-on installed, thick soot on the base ring of the plug, proper heat range indicated on tab. 3 passes with the slip-on removed (running straight pipe off the intermediate pipe), first pass was quick just to see if an over lean condition exixted. Then 2 full pulls from 1st gear to ~ 120MPH at WOT, then clutch, kill switch, slow down, pull over and check plugs. Plugs show slightly rich (perfect in the safe zone), heat range correct.

Question 1, can I remove the restrictor at the outlet of the SS2R / replace it with one that is not restricitve.

Question 2, how can I identify if I have a stock header on the motor? Primary outside diamater / collector differences possibly?

I am not opposed to a more open exhaust on the bike, the SS2R is a little loud but quiet enough not to wake up johnny law when zipping around. I have ran it straight piped through town, that is a little too loud. I do have some performance mufflers and gutted cats for my V-12 Jag and I sliped them on the intermediate pipe in the garage and reved it to see how loud it was. Even just the gutted cats quieted it down to an acceptable level for me.

Thanks for input.

It should be pretty straight forward to identify if your exhaust is stock or not:

They aren't exactly pretty and they're stepped. 4 into 2 into 1

Aftermarket ones almost always go from 4 straight into one.

It appears I have a factory header. The intermediate pipe and slip-on are after market though. Thank you, very valuable pics.
