Angry Engine will not start.

I go to start this devil and she cranks, starter turns, and it will crank for a few seconds and right when she sounds like she is about to fire up all i can hear is a plunk noise (almost like water dripping), just plunk plunk plunk.

I have checked the plugs and they are good.

Fuel is hooked up and runings.

I first thought it was flooded so I let it sit for a while and tryed to start it without the choke and without giving it gas, same thing, same noise.

With gas, same, with choke, same, with gas and choke, same thing.

when was the last time it ran?

when you say it's almost firing, then goes "plunk", is the starter still turning over or is this a sound you her on top of the normal sound of the starter trying to turn over?

also when you say the plugs are good, what are you basing that on - have you tested for spark? After several minutes of trying to crank w/ choke on, I would expect to pull a wet plug out of the cylinder.

Its a 94 cbr 600 f2, it was running, not very well. I had to replace the regulator rectifior then the engine died and started making this noise. It sat for about 2 months before i tore it apart origionally thinking it was a piston rod or bearing, it wasn't.

The sound is on top of the normal sound of the starter, and I had pulled the plugs out bofore I had tried starting it this time, before i put the engine back together. I have not checked for a spark yet, ill try that and get back to you guys.

I would check the cam timing , if it ran be for you tore it down you may have made a oops and messed up putting her back together.

compression, spark, fuel, air.... thats all you need for your bike to run, or attempt to run... check for visual spark, make sure fuel is getting to the chamber, and like ron said, check that you got your cam timing down, if its off, you will have 0 compression.

ya know - the only time I had a vehicle make anthing that could have been considered a "plunk" or "glub" sound (Like an air bubble in a water cooler) when starting was when I had the firing order wrong in the wife's Mazda 626 one time. I put new plugs & wires on, and every went silly. turns out someone had installed the distributor 90 degrees from where it should have been, so all the firing points were one cylinder off.
