Dripping Carbs
well at first, i only ordered 1 set from bike bandit because i thought for some reason 1 set = for all carbs... so i paid like $35 to have them shipped to my door. the other 3 i ordered from cheap cycle parts and paid $19 a piece
C, perhaps if you get round shaped rings failing again, you might want to try allorings.com. They had a lot of good info on their site as well as ordering craptons of orings for about the cost of one set of the honda's. I haven't tried them yet but it's worth a shot. They have compounds specifically for petroleum / fuel situations and have a chemical compatibility chart on their site.
I actually did a permatex liquid seal on both my clutch cover and around the top of the carb bowls a while ago. I've used RTV based and another one which I don't believe was RTV. The RTV held up to the oil just fine, the non-RTV I purchased to do the carbs clogged all of them, a complete loss. You made the right choice.

You went the right way. I've used Hondabond on carb bowls before with success, but it is a band-aid and not a cure. None of the 900 motors I owned had a single gasket on them (except head and valvecover). I used Hondabond on all sidecovers, oil pan, etc. Never had a single leak. When I tear my XX motor down for piston kit and to remove balancers, it will go back together with it as well. That stuff rocks!
