Coolant Leak questions/help
Hello there,
I was riding to work the other day, and noticed at a stop a slight smoke coming from the engine, so I shut down the bike, and wheeled it off the street to find a puddle of green coolant under the vicinity of the water pump. When I got the bike towed home, I took the fairings off to check, and saw the fluid along a third hose from the water pump (going into the engine, it is a short hose, not one of the two longer hoses attached directly to the water pump), and a droplet of fluid under the water pump on the external of the case.
I have not had a chance to trouble shoot the issues yet, but was wondering if anyone had any suggestions?
just a note - my temperature gauge ECT sensor (Green/black wire) is disconnected from the gauge cluster (according to wiring diagram it does not affect the fan motor), and my side stand switch wire is also not connected to the gauge cluster (Yellow/Black wire). There should not have been any other modifications to the bike.
This is not a great photo, but you can see some of the coolant along the bolt side of the water pump. neither of the 2 hoses in the photo had coolant on them, but there is a third hose behind the water pump that had some coolant on it.

Could be hoses, but looks like some fluid is leaking down from the top of the pump. Run the bike and observe. If it is coming out somewhere else, you may need a new gasket, or, a new pump. Check out the cheap solutions first.
