Default CBR600F2 Idle

Been 13 years since this on has been started. Have it running now on a make shift gas tank. Working on the rust in the gas tank. Was wondering if it's ok to let it idle around 800 rpm and let it get up to operating temperature to see if the radiator cooling fan will kick on and off? It is running smoothly. Have changed all the fluids on it. Any help would be appreciated.

I think I read some where that normal idle speed is 1100rpm

Thanks will give that a try. Idles great and fast response on acceleration. Boy raced it in Virginia, crashed then just put it up, so I got a freebee.

The shop manual for that bike says the proper idle speed is 1400 RPM's in most areas, with California being 1600. I know that sound a little high, but the manual is very specific on this. I also states that you should use an external RPM sensor to set it and not rely on the tach mounted on the bike. The idle speed should be set with a completely warmed up engine, meaning let it warm up till the cooling fan kicks in and out, then set the speed. Be sure to check and make sure your choke is fully off as well. I know this may sound obvious, but its also stressed in the manual.

Thanks, will be running it today. Am dissolving the rust in the gas tank right now and will see how it turns out in about 4 days.
