I just sold my cousin my cbr f2 about a month ago, this weekend he laid it down and scraped it up pretty bad. he was ok, just lost a good bit of skin. he hit a patch of gravel at 30 and it came out from under him. When i got to his house the next day to assess the damage, i noticed the shift linkage was popped up out of place so that the fork was bent and the shifter was upside down where his ankle should be instead of facing down at his toe. i unbolted this, bent it back and then bolted it up correctly. we got it running good and we took it for a drive, and it wont come out of 2nd gear. im gonna go take another look at it today. it was layed down on its right side but slid around after that. any input is apreciated.

 

I had the same thing happen to my XR600. I had worn out rings and broke the piston skirt and lost an oil ring into the tranny. The ring jammed the transmission in 2nd. I think there's nothing to do but split the cases and pull out the transmission and have a look. It's almost cheaper just to buy a new motor, considering how much a gasket kit is.
