Default Brake lever too sensitive......

Hey guys,
Great weather coming down to Ga lately. Trying to get more riding time in. Hey, question, I've had this issue for a while now......my brakes are so sensitive.

After the bike sits for a while, the brake lever feel good with enough play in order to reach the light trigger. Basically, after riding for a few minutes my brakes seem to respond sooner than the brake light will, thus making it hard to come to an easy stop. I want my light to light up, but I have to brake so hard in order for it to........

Air in the line? I had the master cylinder cleaned very recently.

Thanks for any help.

I'm thinking, yeah, possibly air in the system. That after a few uses you are
"firming" up your brakes, and the lever doesn't travel as far. That leaves the issue of why the switch is "slow" to respond to the lever travel, though. Not sure if
there is an adjustment for the switch. I'd suggest, you take a look and see.

Short term solution, till you figure it out. Don't forget about your rear-brake. Use it for the light switch and modulate the front brakes as you
see fit.

A. You should be adept at using all of the bike's braking ability (and practice
makes perfect).
B. The rear pedal has a switch to the rear-brake lights, too. That should still
give others the proper notification/warning in traffic.

Ern

When I first got my RC51, the brakes scared me. They grabbed so quickly I rode around with just my rear brake for a while, but then I got used to it and what I did to adjust was use fewer fingers. I was used to 3/4 fingered braking, but I brought it down to 1/2 fingers depending on the situation and now modulating the brakes has never been easier.

Default I'm concerned that......

the reason I'm trying to fix this is because my bike serisouly starts to slow down well before the brake lever reaches the brake light trigger.......so, I don't mind the sensitivity as long as my brake light turns on AS SOON as I start to apply my brakes.

THANKS for input guys!

I had a previous incident with a sticky clutch lever switch. Can it possibly be a stick braking lever switch? Like what Ern said....check it out...maybe something sticky delaying signal to the brake light. But if your rear brake is working proper, use your rear brake for traffic behind you.

your brake switch is probably bad. it should be turning your lights on as soon as you start to pull the lever, regardless of actual brake system pressure. i had a switch actually cause the brake lights to come on, then off, then on again.
