Default Brake lever is too sensitive....

Sometimes my brake lever feels like the pads are sitting right on the rotor. There are other times where it feels like there is a a normal amount of play before the pads actually touch....... anybody deal with this? Hope it makes sense.

Your seals could be worn out and there could be gunk accumulated in your master cylinder. When I got my bike, the brake lever was very touchy. After I bought a used one off eBay and rebuilt it with the Honda kit (was <$10 if I recall), the lever felt much better. The rebuild kit comes with all the rubber seals, a new spring, and the piston the seals go on. It was surprisingly cheap.

You probably should avoid cross posting the same question in two places, makes it confusing to those trying to help you. I was mistaken about the master cylinder rebuild kit. It is closer to $30, still relatively inexpensive.
