Default Bike Won't Start

So I'm pretty irritated by now so I'll just get straight to the point.
So my bike used to run great. I took off all the plastics and tank to get them painted and once I got the bike back and back together (like a week later) I went to fire it up.
Here's the weird part, It fired right up.... but was idling extremely low even with the choke fully engaged. So I try to rev it up a bit and it dies... So I try to start it up again... Just cranks.. all day.
So I played with the throttle adjuster deal a little... Well that was probably a bad call because now I have no idea how close it is to good.

So I figured hey.... maybe it's just flooded. So I go to work and like 10 hours later, I try to start it again... at first, it seemed like it was trying to start but just wouldn't.. like it would sputter a little. Then it got to the point where it wouldn't even do that.

Things I'm smart enough to check... The 2 lines on the bottom of the tank are connected, every other hose seems to be in tact. The tank is turned on(down position) and there is at least a good gallon of gas in there.

Side note: I took my muffler off a couple weeks ago... I know they don't run as well without as much back pressure but do you think that's enough to make it do this?

Anyway... I really hope there is some obvious answer I'm missing. I'm fairly mechanically inclined but this is my first bike so bare with me... please help!

Bike will start without muffler. really loud, motogp style. More likely, you should check to see that the vacum line from cyl 1 is connected to the vacuum port on the petcock. Without out that, no fuel flows. Cranks a lot, but no starting. the other two lines from the back of the tank are vent/smog lines (ca).
