Update - My friend and I realized the oil smelt an awful lot like gas, so we drained it and sure enough there was a lot of gas mixed in with the oil. So maybe while it's cold it still has enough viscosity to somewhat act normal and when it warms up it looses compression and can't run anymore. Still need to find out what the cause of this is but hopefully if I replace the oil in it that might help my problem.

On a side note I bought a 2002 F4i today so the F2 project will be on the back burner for a little bit...

best thing you can do is a compression test on that bike, might have some blown out rings

Yeah. I had some problems with the carbs and a leaking petcock due to the diaphragm on the vacuum side. So I think that could've been part of the problem but a compression check is on the to-do list.

Figured I could show you my new girl as well... 2002 F4i, 15k miles, two brothers exhaust, fender eliminator with integrated turn signals, 2 up 1 down sprockets. So it's a set up from my 91' F2.

loving that f4, but I forgot to mention something before. My mechanic said my valves were so out of spec before he adjusted them that he could feel compression being pushed back through the carb. something to think about if the compression numbers come back bad, that or rings
