I have tried shimming the needles up with 1 washer that i took out of my spare set of carbs, hasn't made much difference. I would put another in but i can't find any washers the same size, don't think we have radio shack over here.

check electronics outlets or a nut and bolt supply. Shimming is like an adjustable needle, it only helps to smooth out minor issues.
