Default 94 clutch/trans issue

just picked up this basketcase 94 f2. got it mostly together, got it running, and now i have an issue.

when in neutral, if your let the clutch out, there is a loud thunk/knock. almost sounds like a motor knock. until you pull the clutch in, and it goes away. havent tried it in gear, but im assuming its the same. still needs more work, sprockets/chain etc put on before i wanna give that a try..

i do have a spare 92 f2 motor that came with it, but its tore down.

any ideas on what the issue could be? really wanna get it running before spring.

I've got the same problem here. But in gear, the sound goes away either because:

1) I have the clutch pulled in
or
2) I go above 2k rpm and the knocking goes away.

Another member has the same issue, and he said it's never had any negative impact to his riding, even on trackdays.

I plan on opening up the clutch cover and taking a look at the clutch plates to see if there's anything there...

From what I've read, the F2's are prone to making noise in neutral with the clutch out. It doesn't seem to be a problem though.

alright. more info. got the bike together and took it for a ride today. when in gear, you can steal hear the clunking. it almost feels like something in the trans is catching. its dragging bad.

ok. i fixed it. once i tore it down, i realized the shift fork was bent. causing the gears to mesh when they shouldnt. tore my spare motor down, theived the transmission from it, bought a new shift fork, put it all together yesterday.

i must say, for 400 bucks for the bike 82 for the shift fork, 6 hours of work, and 40k miles, this is one hellified running beast of a bike
