93 F2 - New battery dead, short?
Went on a long ride with buddies, as soon as we were turning around to head home my 600 starts running poorly and dies. Pulled the seat off and noticed the positive lead to the battery terminal is loose. Tightened and tried to get going again but not enough power to start the motor. We tried jumping but as soon as the charging bike was disconnected it didn't stay running for more than 60 seconds. My friends went to NAPA to get a new battery. We installed it on the side of the road and all was good. I even stopped off at the gas station to fill up before I brought it home. 2 days later, I tried starting my bike and there was no power what so ever. Put my multimeter on the battery and barely noticed 10mV.
* Pulled the battery off and measured 108 Ohms from positive to negative lead with ignition off.
* Measuring 108 Ohms from positive battery lead to frame with ignition off.
* Found that 108 Ohm source is in what I think is the starter relay? (see pic, multimeter shows a 1, but it's actually 108).
*Turning ignition on when measuring across this relay drops resistance from 108 Ohms to <1 Ohm. (see pic)
Before I buy a new "relay thingy". I am overlooking the ignition switch? After doing some reading around here, should I also buy a aftermarket reg/rec just because? Am I barking up the wrong tree?

Check the R/R, with a new battery installed, I'm guessing it's not being charged when the bike is running.
Inspect the connector. Does it show signs of melting, burnt connectors, etc.?
The r/r itself, is the epoxy top-fill, smooth or showing cracks/warpage?
Here's a couple of links that deal with r/r issues....
