Default gearing question

Hi, I have a 1987 cbr hurricane 1000f and I took it to the track last year, and ran a 11.7 at 117mph The bike is completely stock,That seems a little slow to me for a 1000f.My brothers trans am runs 12 flat on motor(stroked 400 to a 461 I built the motor)any way is there anything I can do to make it faster with out dumping a lot of money in it,would this bike benefit from gearing it up or down. Im going to clean carbs a resink them and check valve lash, Any help would be greatly appreciated!!![&o]

Default RE: gearing question

try going down a tooth or two in the front and up a few teeth on the rear sprocket. Also try to strap the front down so you can leave at the line harded. You also have to take in to consideration that older 1000's don't have the same kind of crazy power newer bikes have and it's also not as light as newer liter bikes.
