Silly bugger dropped it at walking speed and the shock wave of the fairing being bent out of position then cracking destroyed everything. So ideally I would like a breaking bike from '94 onwards so I can just transplant the parts that got damaged.
Headlight went as well so will need a replacement as well.
Also the screen was destroyed. Bike still runs fine it just looks a bit sorry for itself.
Obviously would prefer to get the same colour but when you are talking about a 23 year old bike you have to be realistic enough to be thankful for any colour still available (or pay stupid money for new parts)
I'm in North London but willing to travel if the trip means I can get her back on the road, or have a breaking bike transported to my location.
I uploaded some photos of the damage, might be helpful to see what I need.
Appreciate any help or advice.
That's pretty ugly. Sorry you took a spill. Good luck finding what you need. The good news is as far as that generation goes you have a pretty popular color scheme so you might be able to find what you need. I'd say Ebay or the like will be your best shot.
As it turned out I came across a complete bike on eBay for decent money. I did the transplant myself and it aced it's MOT so quite happy. Now I'm being moaned at to 'get rid of the second bike I'm never really going to use' by her who shall be obeyed so just gearing up to taking some photos and offering up my donor bike for spares or as a whole bike.
It has some decent aftermarket cans, sounds like a decent engine, and plenty of hard to find plastic and parts so I do expect some sort of scramble from owners looking for that elusive piece. I guess what I'm saying if anyone who had any interest in what happened to me has the heads up from now.
Unless it's against the rules, I will post here first giving notice of when precisely the post will go up to give everybody a chance.
I will try to be as fair as possible and will be as transparent as to what I paid for the donor bike and what I think it should sell for. Not looking to make money, minus what I've taken off it I'll try to price the parts to cover the remainder. Sound fair?
Thanks for reading
It is against the rules. You aren't allowed to sell things on the forum until you have 100 posts.
hi there, totally understand. I was just trying to be helpful as I have firsthand experience on how difficult it is to get parts, especially plastic for these wonderful bikes.
I have no idea how far away I am from 100 posts so will continue to lurk around and see if any wanted ads are looking for parts I have until such a time when I have to dispose of the bike.
I desperately would not want to scrap this bike and send scarce parts to the scrapyard for someone else to mark up the prices or worse crush it but now that has just become a reality albeit a low percentage one.
