Yoshi may have to go.....
Are you really going to feel a 2-8hp gain? I highly doubt it. A slip ons main purpose is sound and to restrict the bike a little less. You still have the htev and airbox flappers. Worry about that instead of a damn 2 hp gain.
IMPORTANT: unless you are going full system with custom tuned pc stop wasting your time on researching slip ons based on anything other than sound!

The air filter question has taken a life of its own. It seems that the stock filter is "less" restrictive than the K&N. This statement is on the 954 only to my understanding. 2 hp is the diff. I personally think its due to the oiling of the K&N that makes it more restrictive. The BMC shows results similiar to the stock filter. The 954 airbox can be modified to be less restrictive. Now put in an aftermarket and filter and you get my point....there are tooo many variables. There is a specialty shop here in Oregon. There Best results came with a Full Akro system, Moded air box with BMC filter, PC3 and a custom tune. My advice for everyday "street" riding would be to stay with the stock air filter. Race filters leave too much exposed to risk HP gains VS sucking a large particulate into your engine.
Wasn't actually researching this issue on purpose. I was just browsing random things dealing with the 954. Just thought it would be ridiculous to have a slip-on or air filter that negates horsepower so I bought a brand new $510 Micron slip-on for $225. I would rather add a few ponies instead of taking away a couple. Go ahead and spend your $1000 for an exhaust and power commander to add 12-18 horses. I really don't want a second hand, scratched, and dented p.o.s. system. I would much rather spend $225 to gain 2 back from getting rid of the Yoshi and add another 5 from it being a Micron. I guess that when some of the oil runs off the K&N I will get a little more breathing action as well. I got a hell of deal on a pipe that's possibly better than the one I had when I bought my bike. The rest of my money is going towards tires and other maintenance in the future. I will probably cut my Yoshi down and keep it as a spare, might even sell it for a bill. I can even buy sleeves for the Micron to change the colors. ++ Deuces.

IMPORTANT: You, yes you! will not feel a 2 hp gain. If you think you do you are telling yourself that you are head tripping. Why replace something that isnt necessary?

I made 6 extra hp and 5 ft lbs of torque with just a pc5 and dyno tune on my other bike. No pipe change. I have yet to see a stock bike that couldn't benefit from a custom tune. For $325 you could have gotten more power and a better running engine that will ultimately last longer.
No he doesn't get it. He asked a question to try and get help because he was looking for answers. Since they are not the answers he wants he is gonna assume he knows the answer already. Not only is that ignorant, but its a waste of time to people who were actually trying to help him. I'm sure he can ride his 954 to the maximum ability of the bike and pushes it to the limit. Lol I'm sure that those extra 2 hp are totally needed when he is at full lean angle in a corner and they have nothing to do with saying"my bike has this much horsepower" Then he complains about having second hand stuff. I'm sure he is the original owner of his 954 and it's not second hand. He probably had the bike for 9 years but it took him a while to realize he needed those 2 extra hp. What a joke. Lol

But on another note, thanks for getting some action going in this section, just take it from us that we are trying to help you as we are not new to this. There is a reason why I wont get rid of my 954, ill just add to the stable. We all say dumb **** every so often so we wont hold it against you!
Hold it against me. I do not care. Read my original post. I have read literally 20-30 posts about Power Commanders and slip-ons, not one of the posts says anything about Microns. Read my original post. Why would I reissue another power commander question, although I asked a couple of weeks ago whether or not a slip-on and a filter constitutes reprogramming. I got great answers there. You guys have completely missed the target with what I asked. Power Commander, Power Commander, blah be dee blah. I might notice 7 or 8 hp. You guys notice 12 don't you? I am not questioning anyone's knowledge about their respective bikes, you guys are simply not answering the specific questions I asked. When you curse me, I feel as if I just got a D on my report card and grounded for six weeks, when I was 13! I am 33 by the way. My intentions are to get answers to the questions I ask, not to degrade or hurt anyone's feelings and take a side ways short cut to hell. Forgive me for my ignorance and if we ever meet, have a drink on me. If you can't answer the questions I ask, don't come in with the answer you think I need and say your helping because it's the only thing you know. You guys were answering questions I didn't even ask. Post whatever you want, hell, why don't you talk about my mama.

Key thing about the pipe change!!! I did a -1 +2 sprocket conversion before I did the dump pipes. It feels the exact same from when I had the yoshi and the viper now.
Was it the pipe that woke the bike up??? NO! Was it the sprockets? HELL YA!
When they say they feel a 12 hp difference with a Power commander, they are talking about the smoothness of the rpms all the way to the power ban. A few guys with custom tuned pcs will back me up on that immediately. Its not about a 12 hp gain its about the responsiveness and smoothness of the PC tune!
