I go back to my original argument, i can understand somebody servicing the bike themselves, and thus not having any service book stamps.... but he does not even have the blank service book..... and over the past 10 years he has thrown away 9 years worth of mot certificates which would confirm the very low mileage of the bike.... why.

This makes little sense unless the owner had clocked the bike and the mileage was not what it seems. These fraud's do happen.

What an amazingly naive view of human nature, don't want to spoil your view of human nature but there are thousands of idiots out there that without a govt inspection of their vehicle every year they would spend exactly zero pounds (or dollars) on it, therefore it would be a total wreck and a danger to other road users, these half wits do exist in the UK i am sure they also exist in the USA.

The Bike is 10 years old. 15k on the clock would = 1500 miles yearly. My Tires dont even get warm in that short amount of time!!!!!! Just try and schedule a service appt. for your bike. Shops are usually 1-2 weeks out. A regular service (oil change, inspection, looksie here and there) Will take about $150 out of your check book! Then ride home not knowing if they really took a good look at everything? Nothing like paying an additional $50-70 to install a new tire......I am a 45 yr old Father of 2 that prefers to wrench on my own machine. That way I know its done and done correctly!

That is because you like bikes and look after them, not every one does.... i have been to see the said '' owner serviced bike '', my original fears were well founded, total wreck covered up to look half decent, the reason there is no service history is because it sounded like it had never been serviced..... the reason there were no mot certificates to confirm the mileage is because..... it has been clocked, it looked like it had done 115,000 miles not 15,000..... a total shed. I will not be buying this '' one owner '' bike !!!

you mean like this piece of ****? I'd guess that 9 out of 10 cagers, that are 10 years old or more, are leaking oil on the road.

He could have purchased a used gauge cluster off ebay that had 15,000 miles on it. My bike had 3700 miles on it, it was also the original owner. Normally I'd be skeptical, but the radiator, headers looked brand new. Some people just don't ride much or life gets in the way.

I would love to just find a decent bike with low (ish) miles and full service history with lots of paperwork on the work done to the bike and all previous MOT certificates which would confirm the miles done (or not done).... but this is becoming very difficult to find, there are all manner of reasons why the owners don't have any of this.... its a mates bike.... i was given it by a deceased relative.... and so on.... idiots, but the search will continue, there must be someone out there that is honest and decent.
