Default Valve adjustment. .

Digging into the 954 soon .. but..

All my experience is on 900's and 929's. .
Figured its the same basic structure,so my 929's service manual will pertain once I get into the guts of it..
Right or wrong?

Default Valve adjustment. .

Figured that. . Same valve clearance and procedures.
There's a reason that Honda kept a platform for a while.

Default Valve adjustment. .

It's pretty involved and takes time.
First thing is a proper service manual, read through the procedure and then decide if you can do it. If you decide not to, the manual is still very useful for other things that aren't so labor/tool intensive. .

You need to check. They could need adjusting, they may not. Usually, its a couple of valves that are out of the service limit because you're a little bit past the service interval.

You can do it if you have feeler gauges and some rvt silicone for the half moon seals. The rest is just bolts and nuts.

Take your time lowering the radiator and getting the tank and air box out of the way.
