Default Stripped threads in head

I won't bore you with the long story of my nightmare Sunday, but here's the bottom line.
While riding yesterday, one of my spark plugs came loose. My friends and I pulled the bike apart to find that the plug was floating in the hole...totally backed out.
We tried to put it back, but found the the threads inside the head were stripped.
The last time the plugs were replaced (by the previous owner) was by a Honda dealer back in Oct. of '04 during a full tune-up and valve adjustment. My warranty expired last week!!!
I'm going to contact the dealer, but what do you think my chances are of...1) them copping to it...and 2) them repairing it for FREE.
Honestly, I don't want them to do the work...I've got my own mechanic, but wouldn't you think that if this dealer did the work previously and it was through their screw up that I'm having this problem now, they should be responsible?
I also heard from someone today that this is(was) a common problem...can anyone confirm this?

Man, I'm F***ING PI**ED!

They probally wont fix it for free..since it was so long ago. So you may have to deal with it yourself

I'd talk to them any way just to see if you can't get some part of it discounted. Maybe a 'goodwill' gesture seeing as how your warranty just ended. Really seems odd that you can over torque a plug and it takes 5 months to work its way out. If you have a decent mechanic he can pull the head and helicoil that hole -- there's another brand (timesert?) that's way better than helicoil but I can't remember their name. We used them at work for some high strength apps -- the things are actually rated stronger than the original threads. If I think of the name I'll let ya know.
