ORIGINAL: TK954RR

I used airplane remover. If you are just doing the lips i would rec. taping them off tho.
Airplane remover?! Like, it would remove all traces of airplanes from my wheels? Seriously though, I've done polishing before with just abrasives, andI have no desire to do that again...so really, what the hell is airplane remover?

Its called Airplane Paint Stripper, I polished my wheels before i had them chromed and it sucked to keep them clean. Takes a few hours to sand but youll be pleased with the results.

I like that wildcard, I was thinking about painting my rims silver/grey to match the paint in our color scheme but after seeing yours i might go the polishing route too. Not sure yet, but it looks good so far, have fun with the polishing.

I used Klean Strip Stripper. It comes in a bronze colored can and you pour it into a bowl. It's thick like honey and you paint it on with an acid brush. I taped the area in the center of the rim, but not up the spokes or anything like that. If I were using the Aircraft Stripper that's a spray I would reccomend taping everything up. If you look at mine there is about a 1" area that is not stripped on my wheels. I haven't started the polishing part yet, and yes the process was a pain in the a$$. I had to apply the stripper wait 15 minutes or so then I used a #3 steel wool to remove the paint that bubbled up. After some scrubbing with soap, water, and the #3 pad, I would reapply the stripper to those stubborn parts and do the process again. After I did that 2-3 times depending on how lazy I was, I would then use the #3 pad and a lot of elbow grease on the remaining areas. You can see in the picture below what it looked like after the stripper and about half way done with the scrubbing from the steel wool. You can see how I left the center alone.

I just remembered that I put up a section in the detailing area about this. It shows how I taped them off and a couple other pictures if you want to see how I taped em'. It's easier to look at than explain.

^^^^

TK, I have wanted to paint my rims since I have had my red 02' 954. How much did that cost? or did you do it yourself?
