Starter relay or starter motor ?

Starter relay or starter motor ?
Well, the 2002 CBR954RR just got it's first new battery after 45,000 miles and the same problem occurs. For some time there was difficulty starting and the battery (old or new) would discharge down to 20% within two days of the bike just sitting (with battery connected or/and battery standing by it-self/disconnected would not drain). Now the start has gotten so bad that it plainly won't and the clicking is coming from the starter relay. Have checked the wiring and tried to test the poles on the relay but not sure what I should be getting per contact point. No fuse problems and after three start attempts the battery is "canned" and needs to go back the charger for a while. Bike would previously jump start at the gas station when it failed a post fuel start. Have not tried another jump for fear of killing something else in the electrical. Can you really take the starter relay to an autoparts store and get one for $12 like someone else mentioned ? I know they are $80 from dealerships...... Any input is appreciated...

Not sure about gettinga new one, but if i recall correctly in the manual there is a test procedure for the relay, and readings you should be getting from it. click link and download....http://www.stephygee.com/954RRmanual.zip

hmm, have your new battery tested, maybe they gave you a dud battery, i dont have my stator hooked up at all and i have started and run my bike 5 times now and its still got 12.6V across the terminals(started@ 13.3V). Your battery should not be draining that fast. Need to check for battery leakage or whatever its called. section 16 of the manuel.
