well as some of you know.. i have recently purchased a 02 954... after a little over a month i have put over 1k miles, when i bought the bike one of the iteams recently purchased for the bike was a new battery. well after i was left sitting at a mexican restraunt and i had to push start my bike alone.... (btw have have to go at least 6mph to push start my bike in first gear) so i just assumed the battery was dead. instead of buying the yushia (sp) battery that i priced for a low $$160$$ i decided to try something a little different and go with the battery honda put in the 900rr, in the late90's which is less than 1/2 inch taller and the same every where else... except it was only $70.. i checked my charging voltage with a meter at 5000 rpm i am putting out 14.4 volts. i am suposed to be putting out 15.5 volts. is this somthing i should be concerned about? im still putting out more than 13.2 volts which the battery maintains a full charge at.. so??? and if it is a charging problem, what most likely is it?

 

maybe last battery was not properly charged the first time before it was installed?do you know if bike was sitting for a long time before you bought it,how many miles on it? how many miles did you put on the new battery?

 

im pretty sure that the battery that the previous owner put in was pretty new... it lasted, probally 500 or 600 miles, before it went dead the first time. i fully recharged it reinstalled it and less that a week later it was dead again. the new battery i put in besides me not fully charging it. then i did fully charge it and i have put over 200 miles on it no problem so far. my question is that the bike is supposed to put out 15.5 volts, my bike puts out 14.4 is that enought to charge my battery properly which is fully charged at 13.2 volts. thanks..

 

my new battery is still going strong, i guess 14.4 volts is enough to keep her goin for now.
