Default Question about Chain tightness!

Last week I cleaned up my chain and tight it, but I tight it too much. Chain free play is an inch right now. Is it harmful?? Do I need to adjust it again or not?
Thanks

reading is fundamental it says right there on the side of your bike right on the chain guard 1.75 inches of free play thats what honda says and since they are the ones who produced this vehicle i do beleive that they might be correct

Thank you very much gentlemen. I adjusted my chain at 1.8 free play, but it seems dry despite I lube it frequently with a chain lube (It is a Spray) is there anything better that you can recommend for lubing chain?
Thank you very much.

Make sure to lube it after you have ridden it so the chain is hot/warm, otherwise your wasting your spray.

I've heard good things and I have tried white lithium grease. I like it, but it makes a heck of a mess and it looks like you spooged all over your chain. Honda has a 'Chain Wax' that they sell that I also use. It works well, but I like switching between the two. The wax, you need to let setup for 10 minutes after you apply it and does not make much of a mess. Either way, again, don't waste your time putting your lube on a cold chain, ride around for 5-10 minutes to warm it up appropriately.

P.S. Generic lube from department stores kinda suck. It's messy and it doesn't seem to work as well IMO.
