Default cam chain question

Hi all

I hope this is to obvious but all the talk on here is about the cam chain tensioner and not much about replacing the cam chain or guides? at what point do you replace the chain etc if ever?

cheers
Rob

you replace the chain when the manual cct is completely screwed down and the chain still sounds like it wobbles.

Not even mentioned in scheduled maintenance in my Haynes manual.
Even on my old CX500 which I sold it at 75000klm & had arguably the worst cam chain of any bike, even when I replaced the automatic CCT with a manual. But which went on after I sold to a friend & in another 5 years, ran up over a 100000 clicks & thrashed it severely. I think cam chain wear depends on how much maintenance it gets & how its treated.
So I guess kerosene is right in what he says.

For the guides there's nothing in that going to tell you when to replace them. Just have to look at them and use your best option.

I learned this when I was learning about the savage, they too have auto cct's and when they go out you replace it, and when the manual ones go out you replace the chain at which point you rebuild the engine since you have everything off anyway
