hey guys last week i sold my salvage title 00 929 (beat to hell) and bought a 02 954. here is the deal, i found this bike on craigslist and it said 02 954 make offer so i went to this guys house and the bike was black and ti so i knew the plastics were replaced with an 03 set. looking further at the bike i noticed a dent on the swingarm on the right side behind the sets. which lead me to notice there was like no clearance between the swingarm and the muffler. the bike basicly has a bent swingarm and needs to be salvaged and inspected anyway other than that **** the bike is perfect (runs VERY strong). i jewed him down to 3000 dollars and bought the bike. i just won bid on a swingarm on ebay for 60 bucks and i wanted to know what the chances are that something else is wrong with the rear end ect. is there anything else i should look out for?

 

did you inspect the rear shock and make sure nothing was wrong with it?

 

check the swing arm bearings, the new one might come with them so you'll be alright. also check the swing arm mount to the engine, if thats tweeked it could throw it out wack. FYI a 929 and 954 swing arm are different. I had a buddy that swappeed a 954 arm on his 929 and ended up having to use the 954 shock and swing arm mount to convert it.

 

yeh everything else? looks good. i guess im just gonna have to hope untill i get the new swingarm on. pics will be up soon. anything else i should look at on this bike

 

also...is any potential damage not repairable with shock and linkage parts???

 

check out the front end as well. look at the head bearing and the forks. hopefully they are not bent.

 

what exactly should i look for?? nothing looks damaged from what i can see
