Hey guys, I have a 2000 CBR F4 and have been wanting a bigger bike for awhile now and found a good deal (from what I think) on a 2002 954. I wanted to know what you guys think. It is an 02' with just over 8,000 miles on it. The previous owner was hit buy a car on it I guess, need to check into that more, but it needs a tank and a side fairing. I guess the tank is usable just has dents in it and not sure about the side he just said it needs a new one. The owner now put on new forks and a new front fairing and some other things. The front fairing is primer grey right now but thats ok the whole thing will get painted anyway. But he wants $4,000 for it I was going to offer $3,500 and hope he will settle for $3,800. I know what the bike is worth in good condition via bluebook and stuff but do you think it is a good deal? And the title is still clean. Thanks

 

The prices you have mentioned could be good or bad. If you have to put more then a grand into it I would not buy it for more then 3,500. That is just me. I like my bikes spotless and brand new looking. If that is something that would not be possible I wouldnt consider buying it. But like I said, thats just me.
You might want to check out the frame to see if it is tweaked and if it is possible take it for a ride to see if it even goes straight or pulls to a side.
I have had buddies get a good deal on a wrecked bike, and I have had some get burned! All because they could not ride it before they bought itto see how it rides.

 

Also see if he has pics of the damaged bike that he took or used for his ins company etc. Hit by a car could be in a parking lot at 5mph or t-boned at 50.I would dig deeper and be cautious, if it dont feel right walk away.

Yea I am going to look it over good. And take it for a ride. Guess that all it needs is a tank due to dents and a fairing, so that is no problem. And it will need to get painted but thats no probem also because I do custom painting anyway. But I hope it checks out and the guy is selling due to a divorce in progress. I will keep you guys posted. Thanks
