So I guess for me it's not a bad idea - maybe not so much if you want to keep the fuel lid.
P.S. You could always remove the tumblers in your gas door and no one would ever know the difference... maybe?

I bought an extractor set for around $15. Came right out. Bought some new bolts from bike bandit($2 ea + shipping, got the 6 digits from the back side of the igntion, and ordered a new key from http://www.motorcyclekeys.com/keys.htmlfor $25 shipped. I got the key in 3 days. It worked out fine. If youre gonna do it, you only have until the 24th. He goes on vacation from 25 april to 5 june. I think you get added value of just doing it yourself.

Ya I got it done. It turned out that someone tampered with my ignition at one point and we couldn't get a new key to work. So for a temp fix I took the key cylinder off the ignition and just used a key to turn the plastic part in the bottom of the ignition to start the bike. But my new ignition has since arrived and has been installed. Very expensive lesson learned!
