I smoked my friends bike today
Its not so much as calling him out as in negative terms, knowledge is power and someone with experience does well to inform those that need said knowledge. We all are lucky to have knowledgable people to help all involved on this forum.
I beat a Sportster on my 1kRR [8D] True ...
Good thread dudes ... kept me entertained for minutes
Seriously though, the reason the 600 feels so much lighter is because I think it is a tad lighter (manufacturers have been known to lie about dry weight) -- the 954 will still have hp/weight advantage. The 600RR's steering geometry will make it steer quicker (sometimes makes it feel flickier) and lower slung engine will keep mass centralized for even better feel.
Both are absolutely awesome bikes -- the story changes depending on the experience of the rider and conditions that you run in.
Stay safe

I rode an 04 600rr for a couple of days while my buddie have my 954. the 600rr was nible but it seemed to me that you had to twist a lot of r's before the 600 made power. I raced a guy on a r6 with my buddie's 600rr and it is a lot more controlable out of the hole unlike my stock height unstreatched 954. I'm looking at the clouds through the first three gears, but the big bikes always catch and pass in the big end. the 600rr is a 10.90 et at best, the 954 should be be low 10's that should translate to 5-7 bike lengths in a quarter mile.
